If you want to save yourself some suffering, and feel you absolutely need to read it, do yourself a favor and just pretend only the first book exists. It's a shame.this series started off good, and turned into utter trash. The love story between Richard and Kahlan is predictable. It is almost impossible to stop reading after you start. The world is created beautifully with very few apparent loopholes in the basic structure. The protagonist are likable enough to cheer for. The characters like Zed are fresh and amazing making it worth reading just to see them progress.
